In this exhibition clones of the artist's 3D face transformed into voxels, occupy the virtual space. The result is a site-specific sculptural intervention in which the motionless and inanimate faces not only exist, but form the virtual environment to be explored. In addition to the architectural and spatial interventions, the installation allows the visitor:s to wear one of the faces as their own and become part of the work. Building on an AR filter project from 2018 and a social virtual space created in Mozilla Hubs in 2020, "Familiar Strangers" at DFC xplores embodiment and rethinks how we identify with ourselves and connect with space. A surreal situation is created in which one is surrounded by the same faces over and over again and becomes a part of the group, a familiar stranger in a new identity that only emerges in its plurality.
